This magnificent carving had recently been repatriated from the USA and the owner wanted the missing eye replaced.  I carried out this work onsite and whittled a piece of totara to insert into the eye to replace the missing peg before fashioning a replacement eye and colouring the new piece of wood with earth pigments using shellac as a binder.
